FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Answers

1. I can calculate the recommended Power Supply wattage in Lite version. Why would I switch to eXtreme Power Supply Calculator Pro?

The eXtreme Power Supply Calculator Lite provides you with recommended total Power Supply Wattage only, which gives you a general idea on what to look for in Power Supply. However, wattage is NOT crucial factor in Power Supply selection! Total Amperage Available on the +12V Rail(s) is the most important, followed by the +5V amperage and then the +3.3V amperage.

Example: Power Supply that you would like to buy has 400W total wattage output but only has 16A on +12V rail. Depends on the Video Card and CPU selected you might easily rich 18-28A on +12V! Consequences? Best case scenario: your PSU has overload protection and it will shutdown the system. Worst case scenario: you might 'fry' some of your components, like motherboard, video card, hard drive, etc.

2. Are all computer components available in Lite version also available in Pro version?

Yes. Pro and Lite versions contain the same components.

3. I have registered but did not receive an email with verification code. What should I do?

We can resend your registration code by clicking here. If you still did not receive a registration confirmation please check with your ISP for possible filters or blocks. Also it is possible that you have reached your mailbox size limit.

4. I entered my user name and password and the program responds with "Registration is Not Confirmed". How can I log on?

You have not completed a registration confirmation. Please check your email for registration confirmation link and click on it. If you did not receive an email with registration confirmation link we can resend your registration code by clicking here. If you still did not receive an email after resend you may have mistyped your email while registering. Please try to register under correct email address. If this is not the case please check with your ISP for possible filters or blocks.

5. I entered my user name and password and the program responds with "Invalid Login". How can I log on?

Your login name is your registration email. If you forgot your password please click on "Forgot my password" link on the Login screen.

6. I entered my user name and password and the program responds with "Invalid Security Code". How can I log on?

7. I entered my user name and password and the program responds with "Login Banned". What should I do?

If you have breached the Terms of Service, your account will be banned permanently. If you feel that your account was banned by mistake please contact us and we will review your case.

8. Can I print the results?

Yes you can. Both Lite and Pro versions of the eXtreme Power Supply Calculator have ability to print the results. In Pro version you can print the results including Amperage per +12V, +5V and +3.3V rails. Please see the Lite and Pro Features Comparison table.

9. How frequently you update the eXtreme Power Supply Calculator?

It depends on the new hardware and computer components releases. Usually we have an update available every month but quite often we update our eXtreme Power Supply Calculator two or even three times per month.

10. Is eXtreme Power Supply Calculator available as downloadable software?

No, it is not. By having eXtreme Power Supply Calculator online we can continue to improve the program without having to bother you with an upgrade.

11. How can I upgrade my subscription?

From My Account, click on "Buy new or upgrade current subscription" link. How does it work? If you already have a valid and active subscription and would like to extend it (because it's cheaper) you will see an additional "Active" record on your account where Start Date of the new subscription will be equal to End Date of the previous active subscription. Here is an example:
