Layout and cables

The Tagan ITZ 1300W power supply features a steel enclosure with a soft blue mirror finish, which makes it look very attractive.

I was impressed by the size of this power supply! The Tagan ITZ 1300W power supply is only slightly larger than regular ATX unit. The dimensions are 150mm(W) x 86mm(H) x 175mm(L). Other "1000W+ monster" PSUs are longer by almost 2.2"!

This unit comes with two quiet 80mm 12V, 2.76W ball bearing fans. They carry Tagan's label but are most likely produced by some OEM manufacturer.

Here you can see the internal layout and components inside the Tagan ITZ 1300W power supply. All components are well placed. Tagan describes all of their internal components as "industrial grade". Two main output transformers (TOP-T121 A and TOP-T122 A) are placed in the center along with the smaller +5VSB transformer on the left. Interesting to note, that the same main output transformers (made by Topower) and design in general are very similar to the ePower EP-1200P10-T2 1200W Tiger Series XLR-Type Power Supply, which we reviewed back in June. However, as I mentioned in the Features and Specifications section, UL code suggests that manufacturer is TAGAN TECHNOLOGY CO LTD.

Remember, that opening your PSU is extremely dangerous and will void your warranty!

There are two round large aluminum heatsinks and each of them is positioned against one of 80mm fans. The design of the heatsinks features a hole in the top part, which provides a good airflow trough the heatsinks since they are placed in front of the two 80mm fans and therefore provides an optimal heat dissipation.
