Introduction

SilverStone Technology, Inc. has introduced a new 2.0 version of their Zeus ST75ZF 750W power supply unit (PSU). What is different? Along with providing a slightly different power distribution on +12V rails, the ST75ZF 750W v2.0 comes with four PCI-E connectors instead of two and its specifications are almost identical to ST75ZF 850W, except for maximum +12V combined and total power. Also, all power connectors that use +12V are labeled with the power rail number (like +12V2, +12V3, etc.), which makes it very easy to manage the connections between various computer components and not to overload one particular rail. I must say this is a very handy feature that other PSU manufacturers should follow!

By the way, if you have not already noticed SilverStone ST75ZF is the lowest rated PSU to be certified by NVIDIA for 8800GTX SLI at 750W.

Summary of differences between v2.0 and v1.0:

  -   +12V rails distribution (see details in Features and Specifications section)
  -   4 native PCI-e connectors as opposed to 2 PCI-e with 2 PCI-e adapters
  -   6 Serial ATA connectors as opposed to 4
  -   all cables are sleeved as opposed to partial sleeving in v1.0
  -   fan grille changed from chromed colored to black

Who is the manufacturer of this power PSU? Apparently there is a wrong UL number on the PSU label, which according to UL number lookup, (E166947), references a company called Enhance Electronics Co LTD. I spoke to SilverStone's representative and the actual manufacturer is Etasis Electronics. They are a known OEM manufacturer of switching power supplies and have been in business since 1996. The UL number should be corrected soon.
