Introduction

A few months ago a 1000W power supply seemed to be an overkill. However, nowadays, if you are building a top of the line high performance rig, a 1000W power supply is a necessity. With current high end video cards and processors on top of a number of hard drives, optical drives, sound and other cards, watercooling, etc., etc. you can end up pretty close to 1000W. What about folks that use 12-24 hard drives, RAID controllers, tons of RAM, server type motherboards with Dual or Quad multicore processors? That's where 1200W and 1300W power supplies come into play.

Today I'm going to review the ePower EP-1200P10-T2 1200W Tiger Series XLR-Type Power Supply, equipped with six independent +12V Rails, support of 8-Pin PCI-Express, 120mm fan, Active PFC, EZ plugs (XLR-Type) and more.

To be honest, I was a bit skeptical about XLR-Type (EZ Plug modular design) in the past and wanted to try it myself for a quite some time now. I'm excited to have an opportunity to try it with power supply provided by ePower. What did I find out? You will see in a few moments :)
