Power Factor Correction - PFC
Galaxy 1000W EGA1000EWL features high-efficiency and active PFC. According to Enermax, this power supply has an efficiency between 80% and 85%, which means less power loss and lower electricity bills.
Features
- Five +12V Rails - Independent 12V rails supply to MB/CPU and drives in order to provide stable and clean current to noise-sensitive devices, such as: CPU, add-on cards. It meets UL 240VA safety requirements. It also separates the motherboard rails and video card rails to ensure maximum power to your PCI Express video card.
- High efficiency (85%) - High efficiency is achieved by using high quality components and the skills of our designer to maximizes your power supply output and minimize wasted power. Efficiency is the measure of how much of the 100% power that is going in to the PSU is being used up and the unused power dissipates into heat through the heatsink. Lower efficiency means that more power is being wasted, and also it means that PSU will generate more heat.
- Quad GPU support - Five individual +12V Rails allow the power to support up to 4 PCI E graphic cards.
- Power Guard - The PowerGuard uses LED light and internal buzzer to indicate current power supply status. Under abnormal situation, the PowerGuard will turn off the power supply to protect your system.
As you can see, Enermax has implemented an advanced security - if anything happens then the PSU is intelligent enough to shutdown itself fast.

Galaxy's Powerguard has very impressive features. When I disconnected the ATX mainboard cable an immediate PSU shutdown was initiated. Immidiatelly the Galaxy started beeping in bursts of two audible beeps that indicated an abnormal system shutdown. The alarm can be stopped by pressing the release button, which is located on the backside.
The following is a list of operating modes:
